Yesterday
Yesterday started with varnish on my latest painting, Premium. There will be a companion piece in a couple months, a blue pump that says Unleaded. Located in the small town of Water Valley, Mississippi, this once upon a time service station(and it’s a very cool one) is now a shrimp joint, The Crawdad Hole. Second best meal I’ve ever had. The Dede…shrimp, potatoes, sausage and corn on the cob. There’s a photo of the plate on my website’s photography page. I actually ate this meal two days in a row, two weekends in a row, and I crave it daily. Fond memories with my friends Amy and Max.
I spent most of the rest of the day on my new bikini painting, yet to receive a title. I painted a series of eight bikinis in watercolor a couple years ago, The Palm Springs series, but this is much larger and the first in oil. I’m really enjoying this one, but I’ll tell you I’m working with the tiniest brushes I’ve ever used. It’s practically one hair on the end of a stick. Still, a lot of fun.
I finished up the day with a photo excursion at the county fair, always a visual feast. This popcorn looked to be a week old, but still.
